What is the \\\\\\\"Sahara Desert Tourism\\\\\\\" Hybrid System?
To promote desert tourism, the Algerian government allows citizens of nearly all countries (including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, EU nations, and India) to obtain a Visa on Arrival, but only under the following strict conditions:
-
The Route: Your itinerary must include travel to the Southern Sahara region of Algeria. If you are only planning to visit northern cities like Algiers or Oran, you are completely ineligible.
-
The Agency: You cannot do this independently. You must book your trip through an officially registered, licensed Algerian travel agency.
-
The \\\\\\\"e-Visa\\\\\\\" Component: The travel agency takes your passport copy and submits it electronically to the Algerian Ministry of Tourism. If approved, they email you a digital Pre-Authorization / e-Visa certificate.
-
The Landing: You present this printed digital pre-authorization certificate to your airline when boarding and upon landing at the airport in Algeria (such as Algiers, Djanet, or Tamanrasset), where the physical Visa on Arrival stamp is placed in your passport and the visa fee is paid.
